We have launched a new opportunity for everyone to support community revitalization in Quilcene.
You know a lot about the volunteer activities all over town, and the
substantial donations that have been made of dollars and materials to
support those Quilcene improvement projects –
• Restoring and re-opening the Quilcene Park and Campground,
• Cleaning up and Beautifying our downtown area,
• Returning a swim platform and a safe designated swim area to
Quilcene Bay,
• Committing time and support to next year’s HS seniors who need
mentors for their “Culminating Projects”,
• Selecting (by popular vote) a slogan for our town –“Quilcene: Pearl
of the Peninsula”
• Preparing a graphic LOGO to go with the slogan,
• Creating a town song that reflects our history and the things
everyone loves about Quilcene,
• Establishing a web site for business development in Quilcene, and
• Coming soon . . . creating signage to guide visitors to Quilcene’s
attractions and businesses.
There are dozens more “projects” on our agenda, and it appears there’s
enough energy and personal commitment to make THOSE THINGS happen as
well.
As we all expected, some of these projects and activities will cost
money – from small donations needed right now to keep our current
projects on track, to larger contributions we’ll need in the future to
match grant awards and to bring major public and private
infrastructure investments.
We now have a vehicle for anyone to make a personal donation. It’s
COUNT ME IN FOR QUILCENE (Inc.), a new nonprofit corporation
registered in WA State. “CMI” has a bank account set up at Quilcene’s
US Bank. Very soon we’ll be submitting the application to the IRS to
get Section 501(c)(3) designation, so all donations will be federal-
tax-exempt.
You’ll get more information in the near future about COUNT ME IN FOR
QUILCENE.
But if you want to rush right on down to the US Bank, just let the
tellers know you’d like to make a contribution to COUNT ME IN FOR
QUILCENE. Any amount will make you a Contributor. You’ll receive
verification of your donation, and also the good feeling that you’ve
contributed to a better future for your town.
